It's often been called "Italy's cousin to champagne". Not being "champagne" in the traditional sense (champagne by definition only comes from France) it is almost always cheaper to buy. You can easily pick up a bottle between $10-$15. Not only is it cheap...it tastes pretty good! As far as wine, that's a toughie. There are so many different wines out there and so many wineries.
